Sunday I went to The Boulevard for DJ Lavell C’s Fundraiser and birthday celebration. DJs were: Eric “ET” Taylor, Jammin John, and Sam Chatman. Surprise guest Michon Young and Comedian BLT. When I went to see Lavell in the hospital back in December I said when you get that heart we gone party. I pull up to this party and he said you emceeing. Ok it didn’t register until I went to my seat and was like oh he talking about today.. LOL!! He came up to the DJ booth and said today my home girl Cynthia is my emcee.. dang I had to get in order.. LOL.. he even played a couple of songs.. wow!! Happy Birthday my brotha.

That was my weekend.

Cynt's Two Cents

Its been a minute. Haven't had anything to say really until now. If you haven't heard, Pete Frazier has retired from doing the World's Largest Steppin Contest after 24 years. He has given the torch to Stephen "Snoop" King. I commend Pete and the Majestic Gents on doing the contest. I remember when Mary Green said she was done and people were in an up roar. Then Pete said I will do it. People were in a up roar about that. Hmmm. People will never be satisfied. I am a "wait and see" type of person. Look 24 years later.. Ha!!

I stopped attending the contest after 2002 or 2003. I think I went back in 2006. Back then when I was going, the doors opened at 6pm, the contest started at 7pm, the intermission was at 8:30pm. (In 1998 or 1999 was the 1st time I saw Glenn Jones.. "At Last" If you know you know). Ok at 9pm the contest resumed and at 10:30/11pm we knew who the winners were and we left and went to Mr. G's for Paradise Productions set which was over at 3am. I also remember the Prelims were at different locations. One of the locations I had never been to was Michael Jordan's restaurant. Wow!! The rest I had because Steppers Set were held at most of them. The Rose, The Taste, Chez Roue (sp), The Brother's Place, of course Mr. G's just to name a few. They also had sponsors like Budweiser (Anheuser-Busch) I still have the 3 glasses from them and Motions hair products, I got the whole line of products because they were giving them away at each Prelim.

I stopped attending because I had been there done that. I've seen the best of the best compete. Now I just don't want to sit for hours to watch people Step. Sorry, I do that when I go out now. But I will always encourage new Steppers to go to the contest which is now called World's Largest Steppers Competition. Congratulations on retiring Pete and Snoop on taking the rings.

Also Dre and Company will now do the World's Largest Pre Party. T. Pratt has decided to take a step back and manage his two businesses. They had been doing this party for 18 years and I remember them having it at Mr. G's.. it was packed that is why they had to branch out to Tinley Park. Good luck to you T. Pratt on handling Yo Bidness (LOL!!) and continued success to you Andre Blackwell, I know you can handle this.
